Our Beginnings
Hay for horses has been our focus from the start. First, for our own horses, and now for your horses. Like you, our horses are part of our family and we want them to eat as well as we do. We eat organically grown food, so why wouldn’t our horses eat organically grown hay? That is why we became one of the first organic farms focused on growing hay specifically for horses and we continue with that commitment year after year.
As a family who loves horses as much as you do, we understand how important your horses’ health is to you. Your horse’s diet depends on hay, but not all hay is the same. Our hay is clear of dust and mould so your horses will remain healthy and happy.

Typical weight of a square bale is 50-55 lbs.

The Art and Science of Hay
When we started making hay back in 2006, we spent five years asking experts – from the UK, Ontario, and a true blue cowboy – to come and teach us their methods. Each expert brought their own nuance to their methods. Coupled with our own research, we have mastered the art and science of hay for horses.
Why Our Hay
Some decisions that have been essential to offering the best hay for horses include:
- We are a no till farm, which means we do not disturb the soil through tilling. This limits the amount of erosion and ensures our soil remains nutrient rich.
- We seed our fields with seven different types of grasses and legumes. We let nature decide which seed will dominate in any part of a field, and that changes with each cut. Nature knows best and chooses which plant is going to thrive in the conditions that present each year, whether it is wetter or drier, hotter or colder than normal.
- We carefully time the harvesting of the hay to ensure the best product, whether the first cut, second cut or third cut of the season.
- For each harvest, nature chooses which plants will thrive so your horses get the most nutritious mix possible.
- Our farm has enough equipment to go from field to barn in a day. As soon as the hay is ready, we bale and collect it on the same day so it doesn’t sit in the field, risking mould and mildew.
- We always grow our own hay and never purchase hay from other providers so we are always in control of the quality.
- Our farm grows organically certified hay so you know your horse is getting the best with no added industrial chemicals.
NOTE: Although the family farm is certified organic, we also lease land and grow non-organic hay for horses using the same processes and love that we use on our land.
Our Guarantee / Commitment
All our hay is the most nutritious product grown for each season/cut and always has the same level of quality control. Guaranteed. If we don’t like it, we compost it and recycle it back into the fields to help next year’s crop!
